Behavior management in older adults remains under intense regulatory scrutiny — and the OIG is increasing oversight of antipsychotic drug use in LTC Facilities. While progress has been made, serious concerns and reporting loopholes continue to place facilities at risk.
This timely program will review the OIG’s latest concerns surrounding psychotropic medication use, monitoring, reporting, and risk reduction strategies for our valued residents. Participants will learn how to identify compliance risks, strengthen interdisciplinary review processes, and recognize appropriate vs. inappropriate medication use.
Participants will be able to:
• Identify key OIG findings related to antipsychotic drug misuse in facilities
• Describe essential monitoring and reporting requirements for psychotropic medications
• Recognize examples of appropriate and inappropriate antipsychotic drug use
• Identify common adverse reactions associated with behavior management medications
• Apply interdisciplinary approaches to safely reduce psychotropic medication use and improve resident outcomes
Don’t miss this important and highly relevant update for today’s long-term care environment.
