Standardized Electronic Formats for Health Care Claims Attachments, Transactions & Electronic Signatures
Date: Wednesday, June 3, 2026
Webinar time: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Central Time
In March of 2026, CMS published a final rule mandating standardized electronic formats for healthcare claim attachments (e.g., medical records, X-rays, and other reports) and electronic signatures under HIPAA, replacing manual processes such as faxing and mailing documents. Examples of documents that often need to be attached to a claim or used to validate costs include Clinical Records, Diagnostic Imaging Reports, and Administrative Forms.
This session will review the structure of the new process and the scope of changes affecting most health care facilities and service providers. Most facilities will need to modify some of their processes for submitting records and documents requested by audit contractors, billing services, insurers, and oversight agencies. The requirements also have given specific guidelines for acceptable electronic signature content and formats. We will also discuss CMS FAQs and their directions for conversions.
A must-do session for Corporate, Regional, and Facility Operational and Clinical leadership.
Objectives:
- Identify the components of the Administrative Simplification process required after May 26, 2026.
- Review the time frame and the types of records included in the new process.
- Discuss specific Electronic Signature requirements for requested records.
