Weight loss in older adults can sometimes signal an underlying health issue. It’s important to have unexplained weight loss evaluated to investigate the cause and ensure there isn’t a bigger issue. Memory loss and a decline in thinking skills or cognitive function are also possibilities for unexplained weight loss. Many times, it’s a result of a lingering infection or illness or simply depression, which is an underlying concern for many older adults.

This program will cover several aspects of weight loss, including physiology to fight weight loss and gain, current medications for weight loss, myths about losing weight, and a comparison of various popular diets.

1. Discuss the physiology of weight loss and weight gain.
2. Review the oral and injectable weight loss drugs in the market.
3. Compare and contrast popular weight loss programs.
4. Outline strategies for effective weight loss.
