On Nov. 18, 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released QSO-25-07-NH regarding significant changes to the LTC survey process and published these changes in Appendix PP of the State
Operations Manual (SOM) April 25, 2025. Effective April 28th, 2025, surveyors will begin using the guidance to determine compliance. This session will provide an overview of these changes, as well as steps organizations need to take to ensure compliance and a successful survey.
Objectives:
- Recognize the updates to Appendix PP effective April 28, 2025.
- Recognize the Psychosocial Outcome Severity Guide and understand how this is used during the survey.
- Understand the importance of the Critical Element Pathways and how these tools can help establish and maintain compliance.
- Develop a strategy to help prioritize operational changes necessary to ensure compliance.
This program is essential for nurses, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and new hires who work with residents with dementia.
