Despite the significant improvements by health care facilities, there is still a concern by the OIG that unnecessary meds were the sixth-most frequently cited deficiency in recent reports which includes lack of appropriate rationale or adherence to PRN order limits.
This should come as a reminder that even though the major focus has been on Covid-19 in recent months, that as the industry begins to open up again, survey priorities will change, and these high-risk areas will endure increased scrutiny.

- Learn why these powerful medications, while helpful, are sometimes overprescribed.
- Review the major side effects and adverse events associated with these drugs.
