Given the complexities and challenges that are currently facing our facilities, implementing alarms and restraints may sometimes feel like the only way to manage the ‘frequent faller’.  Facilities need to look to the IDT to help manage and adopt best practices.

Objectives: 

• Understand the most common causes of falls and how you can prevent them.
• Recognize that alarms and restraints have the potential to cause greater harm.
• Identify processes & potential interventions that can prevent falls.
• Identify the contributing factors and necessary information the IDT needs to determine the root cause(s) of falls and initiate timely preventative measures.
• Recognize common methods of conducting a thorough root cause analysis.
