Any one of our long-term care communities can say that their population is changing! Life expectancy is expanding and residents with special needs are as well. Our residents are getting older and much more in need of services. Care is becoming anything but routine. With the improvements in healthcare, the population as a whole is living longer and healthier.
There is a special needs population that did not frequently come to our doors. Those with special needs. Residents with autism, cerebral palsy, and Downs Syndrome often did not have an extended life expectancy… but all of that is changing.
DO YOU KNOW…
- How to identify resident’s particular needs and special actions to handle them effectively?
- The many emotional issues that go along with caring for a resident with special needs?
- How to identify the behavior issues that come along with those special residents?
- How to effectively care for lifelong contractures, mobility issues and organ development?
Please join Marge Jordan, RN – LTC Consultant & Educator as she discusses this special population and ways to ensure success in their continued care.
Please forward this invitation to other nurses or key department heads that would benefit from acquiring advanced infection control skills.
